Rockingham fire near Perth downgraded
A bushfire alert in southern Perth has been downgraded from a watch and act as firefighters contain the blaze.
An advice alert has been issued for people in the western part of Rockingham bound by Fisher Street, Parkin Street, Bay View Street and Seawind Drive.
The bushfire is contained and under control but several roads in the area remain closed.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said there was no threat to lives or homes but there was a lot of smoke in the area.
While there was no immediate danger, people in the area needed to stay vigilant and keep up to date in case the situation changed.
The fire started in scrub between Lake Richmond and Fisher Street just before 2pm on Wednesday.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
