Rescued fisherman dies in Perth hospital

A man left in a critical condition after he and his neighbour were rescued from waters off Perth's north has died in hospital.

David Navin, 38, and Ivan Hallissey, 36, wound up in the ocean several kilometres west of Two Rocks on Monday morning after a wave swamped their 5.8m vessel, which had been purchased by one of the men for fishing trips the previous day.

They were rescued after an emergency beacon on their boat was activated.

Both were wearing life jackets, but Mr Navin was unconscious and was taken in a critical condition to Joondalup Health Campus.

Both men suffered vapour burns from fuel from the boat that had spilled into the water.

Mr Navin died in hospital on Friday afternoon.

"With his family's permission, organs were retrieved earlier today and donated for transplantation," a spokesman for Joondalup Health Campus said in a statement.

"The family asks for privacy at this time."
