Record $4.4b revenue for Perth Mint
AAP
Western Australia is no longer enjoying the economic good times the mining boom provided but at least the state government is making record revenue from gold.
The government-owned Perth Mint posted record revenue of $4.4 billion and pre-tax profit of $24.9 million for the first half of the 2015/16 financial year.
The mint refined more than 150 tonnes of gold and 300 tonnes of silver during the half year, selling 8.27 million coins and minted bars worldwide.
