'Rapper' McGowan video is strange: Oppn

The WA premier has been dubbed a "Rockingham rapper" after he participated in a radio station's social media video wearing sunglasses while seated in his office chair as a host gyrated to music.

In the 20-minute video streamed live on Facebook on Wednesday, Premier Mark McGowan and the hit92.9 hosts participated in a DJ set in his Hale House office.

Mr McGowan labelled one co-host's dancing as "slightly inappropriate", then tried out the DJ table but refused to dance.

Opposition leader Mike Nahan described the video as "very strange".

"I'm just going to sit back and let the people watch it and I think they will be as puzzled as I was about what he was doing, how he was portraying the Hale House, and who is he supposed to be anyway?" Dr Nahan told reporters.

"It looked a little bit like a Rockingham rapper.

"It reminds me a bit of when Clive Palmer was campaigning, he did little stunts like this.

"It got him into parliament, but you would expect something more fundamental and sedate from a premier."

Asked if he would do something similar, Dr Nahan replied: "I don't think so."
