Probe into WA woman's 2008 car fire death

New information about the death of a 56-year-old woman in a car fire at her West Australian farm almost a decade ago has led homicide detectives to investigate further.

Susi Elizabeth Johnston died in Borden, in the state's Great Southern region, on December 6, 2008.

She was the only passenger in the car, which police say hit a tree and became engulfed in flames, while the man who was driving escaped without serious injury.

Detective Sergeant Luke Fowler said recent information received led to a thorough review of the case and detectives would visit Albany this week.

"This is a complex investigation that not only involves examining the crash itself, but also piecing together the whole circumstances leading to Ms Johnston's death," he said.
