Possible insanity plea for Mandurah death

The alleged killer of Perth man Ilario Maiolo whose body was found floating off Mandurah may plead insanity.

Daniel Luke Zwerus has pleaded not guilty to murdering the 46-year-old Halls Head man on May 13 last year.

Zwerus's laywer told the Western Australia Supreme Court on Thursday there was the possibility of an insanity plea as well as the application for a judge only trial.

Provisional dates for Zwerus's trial have been set for February 2 to 20.

Zwerus was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in court again on December 11.
