The death of a Kenyan woman whose body was found by police at a block of units in Perth's north is being investigated as a murder.

Officers discovered the body of Jelagat Cheruiyot, 34, when they visited the Main Street property in Osborne Park on Wednesday afternoon to conduct a welfare check.

Relatives and friends had expressed concern that they had not seen her in several days and could not contact her.

Ms Cheruiyot, who was also known as Nancy, had injuries but police would not reveal what they were or how she received them.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Wright told reporters her death was being investigated as a homicide.

"We are still making contact with family members," he said.

"At this point in time we've made contact with two relatives that are here in Perth."

It is understood Ms Cheruiyot had been living in Australia for a couple of years and had been working at a local business in Perth's south.

Police are waiting for a post mortem to reveal when she died.

Forensic officers and detectives are likely to remain at the home for the rest of the week.

Police are also trying to find two vehicles linked to the property.
