Police officers bitten by dog during arrest in Perth

Two police officers have been attacked by a dog during an arrest in the suburb of Oreila, Perth, last night.

Authorities were called to a home in Oreila Avenue about 7pm after reports a man was causing a disturbance in the street.

It’s alleged the 25-year-old man then became aggressive during the arrest, and moments later his dog escaped from the property.

One officer was bitten on the wrist and another on the foot and forearm.

Police used pepper spray and a taser to try and control the dog, however neither had any effect and police were forced to use a firearm to fatally shoot the animal.

The injured officers were both taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment.

The dog’s owner has been charged with obstructing police and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
