A worker has plunged to his death after falling through the roof at a height of up to 20m at Perth's HBF Stadium.

It is understood the man fell just after 2pm (WST) and was rushed to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with life-threatening injuries after being treated by paramedics at the scene.

The man was painting when he fell through the roof and hit the concourse floor below, a spokeswoman for VenuesWest said in a statement.

"Our thoughts are with the worker and his family and workmates," the statement says.

"WorkSafe has arrived on site and is investigating. VenuesWest is fully cooperating with the investigation."

A Worksafe spokeswoman confirmed two inspectors were attending and said it was believed the worker had fallen between 15-20m.

WA Police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the worker's death and will prepare a report for the coroner.
