Perth Royal Show offering 258 showbags

A button-battery powered wrist watch with an unsecured compartment is the only novelty item removed from among the 258 showbag varieties available at the Perth Royal Show this year.

Consumer Protection commissioner David Hillyard said product safety officers inspected more than 1500 toys and novelty goods.

"Thankfully no choking, strangulation or sharp edge hazards were identified," he said.

But officers did find labelling problems with a projectile toy and cosmetics.

"We have been working with suppliers to fix the labels so those items comply with Australian standards and can be included in the showbags," Mr Hillyard said.

"Product safety inspections will also be conducted during the show and suppliers who sell unsafe goods risk heavy fines."

The Fremantle Chocolate showbag is the most expensive one at the show. It will set you back $125.

Other showbags include Lindt, Whittakers, Morish Nuts, Captain Underpants, Perth Wildcats, Pokemon and Frozen.
