New homes the size of an AFL goal square up for sale across Perth

Micro-lot homes are popping up across parts of Perth's north-east with some just 80 square metres in size.

The tiny homes - that are barely bigger than an AFL goal square - are the size of two double car garages and nearly five times smaller than the average WA block.

They are now for sale in the city's northern suburbs and if successful, regulations could be changed.

The Housing Minister and developers expect 'micro-blocks' to become popular closer to the city and in more expensive suburbs.

In Ellenbrook, one mico-home is going for $299,000, however for an extra $21,000, buyers could purchasey a three bedroom home on a regular size block nearby.

Compared to the average price of a unit, it's only $16,500 more and there are no strata fees.
