Perth locals protest proposed McDonald's

Residents angry over McDonald's appeal to build a two-storey restaurant in a leafy Perth suburb are protesting outside the company's hearing.

McDonald's is appealing to the State Administrative Tribunal after its plan to build a 24/7 restaurant in Applecross was rejected by the Metropolitan Central Joint Development Assessment Panel.

Local residents are trying to stop McDonald's because they are concerned the restaurant will attract anti-social behaviour and encourage children at the nearby primary school to eat fast food.

The matter has been adjourned for mediation on August 21.
