Homeless man assaulted in sleeping bag

Police are investigating a serious assault in Perth after a homeless man was assaulted in his sleeping bag.
The 61-year-old was lying on the ground in a sleeping bag at the back of Adelaide Street, accessed off Point Street in Fremantle.

The victim was approached by a man who assaulted him causing serious injuries.
The man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital and is being treated for serious eye and facial injuries.
The offender is described as fair skinned, in his 30s, about 167cm tall, medium build, long dark hair and was wearing a dark sweater.
Police believe several people were in the area at the time.
