Perth firefighters contain scrub fire

Perth firefighters have beaten back and contained a scrub fire that sparked up near a high school.
The blaze sparked up about 1pm (4pm AEDT) in scrub land near Eton Drive, Eaton. There were fears the fire could spread to a nearby school and retirement village.

Several fire crews quickly deployed to the scene and with the assistance from waterbombing aircraft had the fire under control in less than an hour.
A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the situation was now under control.
