Perth couple fined for beating dog
A Perth couple has been fined thousands of dollars for mistreating their dog and banned from having any contact with animals.
Joshua Rona, 27, was fined $2000 and banned from coming into contact with animals for five years in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Rona was charged with maliciously beating his four-year-old male bulldog Buddah after RSPCA inspectors responded to complaints of a dog being beaten at a property in Ridgewood in May last year.
One witness told the RSPCA they saw Rona take a swing at the dog with a long piece of metal.
His partner, Shannon Bosenberg, has been fined $2000 for failing to take reasonable steps to alleviate harm to the dog.
The pair have also been ordered to pay $4800 in vet and legal costs.
