Perth abalone fisherman dies

A man has died in hospital following an incident while he fished for abalone on Perth's northern beaches.
Frederico Nevolo, 52, died on Tuesday after being taken to Charles Gairdner Hospital from North Beach on Sunday.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, police say.

The incident occurred in the first hour of the abalone fishing season, with almost 17,000 licences issued.
It is common for licence holders to get into trouble fishing in dangerous conditions each year.
