A person has been rushed to hospital with a suspected head injury after a car crashed into a home in Perth and trapped them inside.

Police were told a black Subaru Impreza sedan hit a wall of the home on Patricia Street in Caversham about midday on Tuesday.

The suspected driver fled the scene on foot but was detained by three nearby members of the public.

Emergency services were called to the home and the person inside was taken to the Royal Perth Hospital with a suspected head injury.

Police took the driver - a man believed to be in his 30 - into custody, though he was also taken to hospital for a medical check and blood test.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information on the crash or footage of it recorded on their dashcam to come forward.
