A driver in Western Australia has been interviewed by police after he drove away following a serious crash with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, suffered serious injuries to his head, chest and leg when he was struck by a ute while walking along Broome Road, near Bilingurr, about 9pm on Friday.

The ute's driver, a 43-year-old Goodlands man, drove away from the scene but later attended Broome police station and assisted officers with their investigation, WA Police said on Saturday.
