Almost $20,000 has been raised to help cover funeral costs for a seven-month-old baby who died after being turned away from two Perth hospitals and a GP.

Malakai Matui Paraone became ill last Monday with a fever, rash and had difficulty moving his right side.

He was taken to Midland Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital over the next few days but was sent home each time, and a GP told his parents he had a virus and nothing could be done.

He was rushed to PMH again on Thursday where he was placed in intensive care before his life support was turned off on Friday.

PMH acting executive director Michelle Dillon said she could not provide details about the treatment of individual patients but extended her "deepest sympathies" to the family.

The gofundme page, started by Malakai's mother, Nicole Thompson, has exceeded its goal of $15,000 and has been shared more than 3000 times on social media.

The case has been referred to the coroner and Health Minister John Day has requested a report.
