One punch Perth attack sparks police search

A teen has been knocked to the ground without warning during a brutal one-punch attack in Perth.

The late-night confrontation was captured by a security camera on St Quentin’s Avenue, Claremont on June 5 shortly after 12:30am.

A 17-year-old teen from Nedlands was walking down the avenue when he was approached by two heavy-set men.

After a brief conversation one of the men punched the victim in the face, sending him crashing to the ground.

The attacker and his acquaintance then fled the scene without checking to see if the other man is okay.

Police told nine.com.au the victim wasn’t seriously injured during the attack.

Authorities are looking for both men who have described as fair skinned, medium build, at least 25-years-old with short black hair.

The brutal acts of violence dubbed by police and media as coward punches have garnered staunch criticism over the years due to a number of high-profile assaults.

On July 7, 2012, 18-year-old Thomas Kelly was walking with his girlfriend when he was punched in the head during a random attack in Sydney's Kings Cross by Kieran Loveridge.

Kelly suffered traumatic brain injuries from the attack and died two days later.
