One dead, five seriously hurt in WA crash

A 56-year-old man has died and five people have been seriously injured after two cars collided in Perth.

The crash happened in north suburban Karrinyup about 10.30pm on Sunday, police said.

One driver died in hospital, while his five passengers were also seriously injured.

A 55-year-old man is in a critical and unstable condition, while a 52-year-old woman is critical but stable.

Two women, aged 28 and 39, and a 27-year-old man are all in a serious but stable condition.

The 20-year-old driver of the second car faces a string of charges including dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on February 3.
