Notoriously hot Marble Bar set to sizzle

Temperatures in the notoriously hot Pilbara town of Marble Bar are forecast to steadily climb to 47C next week as the state sizzles through a severe heat wave.

In the metropolitan area the heat is forecast to exceed 39C over five consecutive days from Sunday, matching the record set at the old West Perth weather station in February 1933.

Transperth reduces the speed of its trains on all lines by about 20km/h when temperatures reach 39C, in line with national and international operating and safety standards.
