West Australian nationals MP Martin Aldridge is calling for an urgent review of the government's road safety activities after a horror long-weekend on the state's roads.

Mr Aldridge implored the WA government on Tuesday to access the more than $140 million in the Road Trauma Trust Account after 11 people died in 72 hours, eight of them on country roads.

"Its utterly tragic and the ultimate tragedy is that lives continue to be lost while the state government sits on its millions," Mr Aldridge said.

Mr Aldridge said the government should partner with the RAC to use the trauma trust and Royalties for Regions funding to develop strategies to prevent deaths on country roads.
