Motorcyclist ambushed in Perth

A 19-year-old has been ambushed by a gang of young thugs outside Perth's main train station.

He was riding his motorcycle in front of the Wellington Street station about 11.30pm on Thursday when he drove into a rope that had been tied across the road.

The youth was propelled off his bike and onto the road.

Once he'd taken off his helmet, the youths surrounded him, hitting over the back of his head with a glass bottle.

The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment to a cut on his scalp and rope burns to his neck.
