Motorbike crash kills elderly pedestrian

A 79-year-old Perth man has died in hospital after being hit by a motorcycle while he was crossing the road earlier in the week.

Western Australia Police say the 24-year-old motorcycle rider braked heavily after seeing the man walking across the road, but could not stop in time.

The crash, which happened on Guildford Road in Bassendean at about 4.30pm (WST) on Tuesday, also left the rider with minor injuries.
