A 36-year-old father-of-three and mining industry worker has faced a Perth court charged over the death of his friend after a fight.

The victim in his 30s was found lying on the driveway of his home in Morley, in Perth's north, in the early hours of Saturday.

Brett Dorsett Jardine, an employee with BHP Billiton, was arrested and charged with an act or omission causing bodily harm.

Magistrate Evan Shackleton agreed on Tuesday to release Jardine, who was supported by a group of people in court, on a $5000 bail until he returns to Perth Magistrates Court on January 17.
