Man charged with murder in regional WA

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a pedestrian in regional WA, as police investigate whether the incident was related to a suspicious fire.

The fire began around 2am on Friday at a unit in South Kalgoorlie, while a 43-year-old man was struck by a car at Coolgardie around three hours later, WA Police said on Monday.

Homicide detectives have charged a 35-year-old man from South Kalgoorlie with murder in relation to the death of the pedestrian in Coolgardie.

He is due to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on April 29.

The investigation into both incidents is ongoing and detectives have urged anyone with information or dash-cam footage to call Crime Stoppers.
