Man charged over violent assault in WA

A man has been charged over an assault in Kalgoorlie that's left a 31-year-old man in a critical condition in hospital.

Four people were involved in a scuffle in the WA mining town when the victim was punched and fell backwards onto the ground, police say.

He is now at Royal Perth Hospital where he's in a stable but critical condition.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and common assault.

He is due to appear in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on December 1.
