Man charged over death in WA

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the discovery of a body at a home in Mandurah, south of Perth.

Police were called to a unit in Dudley Park on Saturday to find the man's body in the carport.

Police said his identity was yet to be confirmed and the next of kin had not been formally notified.

A 47-year-old man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and has been refused bail to appear in Northbridge Court on Sunday.

The charge may be upgraded pending the outcome of a post mortem examination, police said.
