Labor Senator backs boat turn-back move

Bill Shorten's move to allow a future Labor government to turn back asylum-seeker boats will have "some fierce support" within the opposition, West Australian Senator Glenn Sterle says.
"It is the right thing to do. We cannot defend drownings at sea. We cannot defend that vile trade that is people smuggling," Senator Sterle told ABC radio on Thursday.
"He'll have some fierce support. I'm fully supportive of this."
