Kings Park wildflowers fit for royalty

The Duchess of Cornwall will be presented with a bouquet of uniquely West Australian wildflowers when she visits Perth's Kings Park with the Prince of Wales this weekend.

Senior curator Grady Brand said on Friday the rugged but beautiful blooms had been hand-selected from the park, which is a must-see destination for any visitor to the West Australian capital.

"They are amazing plants found nowhere else than here in WA," Mr Brand told AAP.

"So, a fitting gift for the Duchess."

The posy includes the Rottnest Island Daisy, the world's largest eucalypt flower named Mottlecah, red and yellow Kangaroo Paws and the Western Australian Christmas Tree, which is the world's biggest semi-parasitic plant.

Mr Brand said he was looking forward to meeting Prince Charles, who is a keen gardener.

"Apparently he loves botanical names and so do I, so we'll be right."

WA's southwest is a globally-recognised biodiversity hotspot with more than 7000 kinds of flowering plants.
