TIMELINE OF KEY EVENTS IN ROD CULLETON'S POLITICAL CAREER:

* July 2016 - The 52-year-old former farmer is elected to the Senate for Western Australia as a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation

* October 2016 - Wesfarmers director Dick Lester lodges a creditor's petition with the intent of bringing on an involuntary bankruptcy after Mr Culleton failed to pay him a $280,000 debt over a broken land deal

* December 2016 - Mr Culleton resigns from the party but remains an independent senator. Soon after, he is declared bankrupt in the Federal Court

* January 2017 - One Nation member Anthony Fels confronts Mr Culleton outside Perth Magistrates Court where Mr Culleton was appearing over a restraining order taken out by his wife against two men, when Mr Culleton falls heavily, requiring him to wear a splint

* January 2017 - Mr Culleton loses his spot in the Senate
