Kerr ordered to plead to VRO breaches

AFL premiership player Daniel Kerr has appeared briefly in court and been warned he must enter pleas next time to four charges of breaching a violence restraining order by texting his ex-partner.

Kerr appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday and was granted an adjournment to September 21, but chief magistrate Steven Heath said he expected pleas to be entered on that date.

Outside court, the former West Coast Eagles midfielder told reporters that his new job was going "pretty good".

"These legal issues, they're not as severe as when I got in trouble (before), but they're affecting me a fair bit," he said.

Kerr was spared an immediate jail term last month for dousing two people in petrol and threatening to set them on fire at a Glendalough home in November.

He was instead sentenced to an eight-month jail term, suspended for 12 months, as well as a 12-month community-based order.
