Ingham's expands WA farming operations

Chicken producer Ingham's is expanding its farming, milling and processing operations in Western Australia, which is expected to create 400 new permanent jobs plus about 1000 indirect jobs.

A new feed mill will be built at Muchea over three years and a hatchery is also planned.

Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan welcomed the announcement, saying increasing exports was important but there were also opportunities in expanding the agriculture sector to meet rising local demand.

"We can ensure the best quality products end up on Western Australian plates and, at the same time, reduce our reliance on imports from the eastern states," she said.
