Hundreds protest in WA on Australia Day

Hundreds of protesters have marched peacefully in Perth on Australia Day in support of indigenous people.

While the Invasion Day movement condemns Australia Day and mourns January 26 as the "day of killing" that came with the landing of the First Fleet, others prefer to call it Survival Day.

The Perth crowd chanted "Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land" as they walked through the city to Langley Park on Tuesday afternoon, followed by some police cars.

The City of Perth is also hosting a Survival concert, celebrating the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, with local artists such as The Merindas, Mervyn Mulardy and Phil Walley-Stack.
