Residents were evacuated and the bomb squad called with police concerned over a potential “hazardous device.”

The scene was given the all-clear after it was discovered the bin was host to an art project, with sensors fitted inside causing an explosion sound effect to play when rubbish is deposited.

It is believed the exhibit is part of a community art project run by the Town of Victoria Park council.
