Pauline Hanson's One Nation party told its West Australian candidates they'd have to pay a $250,000 fine if they quit the party after being elected.

But the exit fee, outlined in a letter to the 60 candidates for the March 11 election, was dumped on Friday "on legal advice".

News Corp Australia said several angry candidates had refused to sign the agreement, although some had complied.
