Girl charged over junior football assault

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with grievous bodily harm after allegedly assaulting a competitor during a junior football match in Perth and leaving the 15-year-old victim with serious spinal and facial injuries.
Police say the assault on the teenage girl occurred during an Australian Rules match in Heathridge on June 8 and she needs ongoing treatment in hospital.
The accused attacker will appear in the Joondalup Children's Court on August 7.
