French backpackers rescued in remote WA
Three French backpackers are dehydrated but otherwise in good health after becoming stranded on a remote track in Western Australia's Goldfields-Esperance region.
Police say two men aged 25 and 26, and a woman aged 30 broke down or crashed their car around 4.30pm WST on Saturday on a little-used four wheel drive track about 80km from Lake King.
A passing motorist found them almost 24 hours later about 40km from their abandoned car and gave them water and alerted police, who picked them up around 10pm.
They'd taped "help" on the rear windscreen of the car along with an arrow that pointed in the direction they had walked.
They also left a more detailed letter inside their car with information about their limited water and food supplies, as well as their plans.
