Forrest loses uranium explorer challenge

Mining magnate Andrew Forrest has lost his bid to stop a junior uranium explorer looking for the commodity at his family's cattle station in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

The billionaire challenged a decision by the mining warden that paved the way for Tony Sage's Cauldron Energy to secure exploration tenements within and adjoining Mr Forrest's Minderoo pastoral station near Onslow.

But the WA Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal on Thursday, saying "none of Forrest's grounds are made out".
