Flood warning for East Kimberley in WA

Residents in the East Kimberley are being warned to prepare for possible flooding as heavy rains hit.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) says Wyndham, Kununurra and surrounding areas are at risk due to heavy rains on Saturday and Sunday.

While there is no immediate danger, residents are warned to keep up to date with the situation in case it changes.

In the 24 hours to 9am Sunday widespread rain of up to 70mm, with isolated heavier falls of 100mm, is forecast for the east Kimberley.

The DFES said this could cause streams to rise and flooding during Saturday and Sunday.
