Former West Coast Eagles midfielder Daniel Kerr is in custody after allegedly breaching a violence restraining order.

The premiership player was arrested overnight and faced Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, when he was remanded in custody until May 24.

His lawyer Rhett Williamson said his client would likely apply for bail at his next court appearance or possibly before if that could be arranged.

Kerr was fined $2000 in September after he pleaded guilty to four counts of breaching his VRO, with the court hearing he sent his former partner a series of expletive-ridden texts because he was frustrated about stalled work on their fire-damaged Wembley house.

Outside court that day, he told reporters: "This'll be the last time in this court so you guys might miss me."
