Empty Perth rental properties on the rise

Perth's rental vacancy rate has hit a six-year high, with more than 8000 homes needing tenants.

Real Estate Institute of Western Australia president David Airey said the oversupply was created by a slowdown in the state's population growth as well as the completion of a significant amount of new houses.

"Owners need to be realistic about the current market in order to attract and maintain good tenants," Mr Airey said.
