WA teen hit by a truck dies in hospital

An 18-year-old man who was hit by a truck in Perth this week has died in hospital.

The teenager was riding a power-assisted pedal cycle in Oakford on Tuesday morning when he collided with a freightliner truck at the intersection of Thomas Road and Tonkin Highway.

The man died late on Wednesday, police said.

Police said at the time that the 46-year-old truck driver was shaken by the incident and was assisting them with their inquiries.

In a separate incident, a woman believed to be aged 86 was killed after her car crashed into a 30-tonne truck near the Wheatbelt town of York on Wednesday afternoon.

She was trapped in the car and died at the scene.

Police said on Thursday that 49-year-old driver of the other vehicle was shaken by the crash and was assisting police with inquiries.
