Elderly man punched, stomped in the head
A 75-year-old man has been knocked out after an intruder punched him and stomped on his head in the West Australian town of Northam.
Police say the victim was dragged from his garage to the garden where he took further punches before a neighbour intervened.
After the attack he was taken to the Royal Perth Hospital with serious facial injuries.
Police say he had disturbed a person trying to steal a scooter from his home on Saturday and challenged him.
A 29-year-old man was pepper-sprayed and arrested after he allegedly stole the victim's car after the attack and crashed it on Kennedy Street, hitting a sign post and another vehicle.
He was charged over the attack and refused bail to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.
