Driver charged over WA hit-and-run

A 46-year-old man has been charged over a hit-and-run crash that left a Perth cyclist in hospital with serious injuries.

Climate change expert Thomas Lyons, 66, remains at Royal Perth Hospital after being found unconscious next to his bike on The Esplanade in Mount Pleasant last Friday.

After CCTV vision was released and the victim's daughters made a public appeal at the weekend, the driver turned himself in on Monday.

Police said on Tuesday that he had been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, failing to stop/render assistance and failing to report a crash.
