Flood-affected communities in Western Australia's south will receive Commonwealth and state disaster assistance, federal justice minister Michael Keenan has confirmed.

The joint Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements have been made available to more than a dozen communities in WA's South West and Great Southern regions.

Heavy rainfall caused flooding in the state's south in mid-January, with many communities suffering damage to public infrastructure.
