Dedicated police bike team for Perth

A team of 36 police officers will conduct regular bike patrols in Perth CBD and Northbridge entertainment precinct to help drive down crime.
Police Minister Liza Harvey said on Sunday the dedicated Bicycle Patrol Group would consist of officers from existing areas and conduct patrols as needed.
"The big advantage they'll have is being able to get in and out of the laneways to get in and around parks really effectively to police the anti-social behaviour that can occur from time to time," she told reporters.

But the opposition says the announcement is an admission the current policing model has failed.
Bike patrols will start by the end of April.
