Czech admits WA reptile export crimes
A Czech man has pleaded guilty to trying to export native animals from Western Australia through the post.
Jan Stenicka attempted to export reptiles from Exmouth and Carnarvon in January and February this year.
He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday via video link from Hakea prison where he pleaded guilty to 18 charges, including attempting to export native specimens and animal cruelty offences.
A further 22 similar charges were discontinued.
Co-accused Jan Suchanek, also from the Czech Republic, is expected to enter pleas to similar charges on May 22.
A Russian pair who were arrested at Perth International Airport along with the Czechs, Roman Nazarov and Eduard Galoyan, will also appear in court on May 22.
Stenicka will be sentenced in the West Australia District Court later in 2015.
