A 3.8m saltwater crocodile that had been worrying Wyndham locals in northern WA by following and climbing into boats has been wrangled by rangers.

"It was trailing boats, climbing onto the back of boats and also onto the floating pontoon jetty," Parks and Wildlife East Kimberley district manager Luke Bentley said.

The animal was removed from the Wyndham boat ramp area on Tuesday and taken to the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park in Broome.
